Whether you're a new or former NAU graduate student, fill out an
Application for Graduate Admission as your first step toward graduate
study. Complete the application online. There is a $50 fee for graduate
degree and certificate programs and a $25 fee for non-degree and readmission
applications. You are considered a former NAU student if you have graduated or
have not attended at least one of the last three terms (not including summer or
winter terms), and you will need to reapply.
If you plan to pursue a graduate degree at NAU, have official transcripts of all
your college work, except NAU, sent to graduate admissions. You may need to
submit additional application materials to the college or department sponsoring
your degree. Contact them or check their website
for application materials and requirements, including deadlines.
If you plan to take graduate courses not geared toward a degree or if you intend
to earn a certification, check "Not seeking a graduate degree" on your
application.
Once your application materials have been evaluated you'll receive notification
of your admission status by mail. Then you can enroll in class!
Generally, you will want to enroll in classes as soon as you've been admitted.
However, if circumstances require that you delay your enrollment after
admission, you will need to reapply to NAU. Likewise, if you begin taking
classes and then take a break for three or more consecutive terms you will need
to reapply. Contact your advisor for help with reapplication and
readmission.
