Our Services: Satellite Downlinks and Uplinks
Through NAU Television Services, satellite downlink and uplink services are
available to University departments and outside organizations. In satellite
telecommunication, a downlink is the link from a satellite down to one or more
ground stations or receivers, and an uplink is the link from a ground station
up to a satellite.
Downlinks
Downlink transmissions from C-Band or KU-Band satellites may be routed to a
conference room on the NAU campus that has an NAU cable TV drop, recorded onto
videotape, or both. Downlinks can currently be received in Analog format.
Digital receipt of satellite transmissions is currently unavailable. Clients
are responsible for reserving a "viewing" room or conference room in which to
watch the satellite broadcast. Viewing facilities are available in the du Bois
Conference Center, the University Union, or the Cline Library.
Uplinks
Uplink transmission may be used for a pre-recorded videotape feeds, or for live
production events out of the TV Services studio. Analog transmission is
available via the C-Band Uplink. Clients are responsible for the brokering of
transponder time.
Please contact Brandon Smith at 928-523-1063 to arrange for uplink or downlink services.
